Don’t worry if you’re not crushing your goals and feel like you’re falling behind.

Don’t worry if you’re not crushing your goals and feel like you’re falling behind.

Be Small

Somewhere along the line we all bought into the fantasy of perpetual growth. We’ve somehow convinced ourselves that human beings can defy the laws of nature and just go straight up forever, with nary a dip in the trajectory.

We’re fine.
All the time.
Or at least we should be.

Really? Human beings are the only thing in the universe that doesn’t expand and contract constantly? That dips, downturns, and the need to stop, pull back, and yes, sometimes even regress is an immediate cause for alarm?

I don’t think so. Because it’s literally impossible.

So don’t worry if you’re not crushing your goals and feel like you’re falling behind. It just means that you, like everything else that has ever been or will be created, cannot expand forever. Sometimes you will naturally contract.

Accept this fact. Accept where you are. Lose your expectations, and stay focused. Just as it naturally contracted, your life has no choice but to eventually expand.

What wonderful insight into how to truly connect with your children and get behind their dreams, hopes and aspirations! Have not been this inspired by a TED talk in this subject since Dr Shefali.

So inspirational and a concept more of us parents could use to create better relationships that support our children. We have to be the role models but too often we didn't have the support we needed growing up, and this talk gives us such a simple way to be that, not just for our kids but for the community as well. Thank you friend. Brilliant.

Good job, Mr Goyette!! You’re even cooler than I first thought whenever Noelle talked about her dad or when I met you a couple times.
