Ed Goyette

We flourish more in the pause than in the doing.

We flourish more in the pause than in the doing.

The Rest Between Notes

In a song, just as important as the notes that are played, are the rests between them. The pause that lets the listener process, appreciate and understand the intent of the music. This goes the same for life. The rest, the processing, the appreciation, and the understanding simply can’t happen while we’re still engaged. We flourish more in the pause than in the doing. We progress further after we’ve disengaged and allowed ourselves to simply “be”.

So if a day just seems like a day, accept it as that necessary pause, that space between activities you need to ensure your life doesn’t turn into a jumble of unrelated notes. Honor it for the balance it’s providing. Relax, enjoy, be bored, but never regret the fact that “you didn’t get anything done”. There is more time for the doing tomorrow. More keys to strike and beats to play. But for today, the rest between notes might be just what you need.

Play on.

What wonderful insight into how to truly connect with your children and get behind their dreams, hopes and aspirations! Have not been this inspired by a TED talk in this subject since Dr Shefali.

So inspirational and a concept more of us parents could use to create better relationships that support our children. We have to be the role models but too often we didn't have the support we needed growing up, and this talk gives us such a simple way to be that, not just for our kids but for the community as well. Thank you friend. Brilliant.

Good job, Mr Goyette!! You’re even cooler than I first thought whenever Noelle talked about her dad or when I met you a couple times.
